We have access to the most comprehensive set of Microsoft® software for developing and fully testing our application, allowing us to provide the highest level of assurance that Legal Files will perform well when deployed on Windows Server operating systems. Our "Save to Legal Files" functionality creates a one-of-a-kind integration with the programs offered in Microsoft Office®.
Our integration with Microsoft Office® is one of Legal Files' most notable features. E-mail, contacts, appointments, documents, spreadsheets and presentations can be saved to a Legal Files case/matter directly from the MS Office application. The integration utilizes HTTP and XML technology that provides a much faster and more secure data transmission to the server over traditional FTP methods. Additionally, customers do not have to integrate directly with their Microsoft® Exchange Server, eliminating additional security and performance concerns.
Integration with Outlook
Legal Files offers two types of integration with Outlook. The first is the COM add-in. The second type of integration is the Legal Files synchronizer. Both the COM add-in and the synchronizer provide real-time integration with calendaring, tasks and e-mail. While the synchronizer provides a mass batch update for a given data range, the COM add-in provides instantaneous updates between Legal Files and Outlook\Exchange.
E-mail integration with Microsoft Outlook®:
Legal Files Software, Inc. developed the COM add-in to provide a tool that quickly and easily links e-mail from any Outlook folder to a Legal Files matter/case. The COM add-in places a "Save to Legal Files" button on a user's Outlook Toolbar. Clicking on the "Save to Legal Files" button opens a file selection window where the user simply selects the case or matter where the e-mail should be copied, and Legal Files automatically copies the message (with attachments) to the appropriate file. The Legal Files client does not need to be running to use the COM add-in.
E-mail items saved from the Sent Items folder in Outlook are placed in the Sent view of Legal Files' E-Mail Selection window. E-mail items saved from any other folder in Outlook are placed in the New view of Legal Files' E-Mail Selection window.
E-mail saved from Outlook to Legal Files contains all of the text from the Outlook e-mail. The Outlook e-mail (and any attachments included with that e-mail) is attached to the Legal Files e-mail item.
E-mail saved from Outlook to Legal Files can be deleted in Outlook without removing the item from Legal Files and vice versa.
Calendar and task integration with Microsoft Outlook®:
Legal Files Software, Inc. developed the COM add-in to provide a bi-directional tool that quickly and easily creates an Outlook appointment and/or task from a corresponding Legal Files calendar or to-do. Saving the item automatically creates and links the corresponding event in Outlook (or Legal Files) to each other.
The COM add-in for calendars and tasks places a "Save to Legal Files" button on the appointment and task window, as well as the user's Outlook Toolbar. Clicking the "Save to Legal Files" button opens a file selection window where the user simply selects the case or matter where the appointment or task should be created, and Legal Files automatically creates the appointment or task in the appropriate file. The Legal Files client does not need to be running to use the COM add-in.
Outlook Synchronization
Legal Files includes a synchronization program to keep a user's personal Outlook calendar, tasks and contacts in synch with Legal Files. Calendar items, tasks and contacts added in Outlook will automatically be created and displayed in your Legal Files system-with no user intervention. Changes made to calendars, tasks and contacts-in either system-will be automatically updated in the corresponding system, independent of where the information was originally created.
Integration with Microsoft Word®
Fully integrated with Microsoft Word, users
can create and edit documents in their word processor without
ever having to leave Legal Files. Legal Files users have, at their
fingertips, all the features of Microsoft Word for the formatting
of document templates. With Legal Files powerful document assembly
functionality, users can create a single template for any type
of document, and then, from within a file/case or name card, automatically
create new documents based on that template using data already
within the file/case or name card.
Legal Files Document Management System also offers the Microsoft
Word plug-in, which allows users to quickly and conveniently store
any document that is opened in Word to Legal Files. The plug-in
allows users from within the Word interface to store documents
to the appropriate case/matter in Legal Files without leaving
Word.
